Egyptian history has been a passion of mine since I was in grade school; I remember in history class when we reached the time of the pharaohs I was always soaking up as much as I could and then when they started having specials on television that dealt with ancient Egypt, whether it was the general history or the history of the deities and religious aspects of ancient Egypt, I'd watch those with a serious hunger to learn as much as I could. Then I'd read and study the civilization in books from the library & that I purchased. Once I got online I found many wonderful ancient Egyptian history sites that are a fantastic source of information regarding how the people lived, how they behaved, their religion, how they wrote, etc. As you can see once I start on this topic I'm extremely passionate about it and it truly is one of my great loves. I knew that when I began painting I would have to try my hand at giving my own take on ancient Egypt's great and rich past. I took what I've learned about the gods & goddesses of Egypt and brought them to life; I've painted such deities as Anubis, the god of embalming and guardian to the dead; I've painted the Egyptian trinity of Horus, Isis & Osiris as well as Seth, Bast, Sekhmet, Thoth & more and I've stayed true to their meaning, the things they stood for and represented in Egyptian culture. There are many aspects of ancient Egyptian religion that was transferred to Christianity, Judaism & most modern day religions so it's very important to have a better understanding of different religious around the globe; this helps to create a much more open-minded person and helps you to grow and understand why and how things are the way they are and have been in the past. I've also painted scenes depicting how the Egyptians built a great pyramid, how important their pharaoh was to them in an every day setting and much more! Each one has been done the same as my other paintings- by hand using a graphic tablet with my computer so you know that when you purchase a Mike Sexton painting you're getting a painting that looks just as good as an oil or acrylic painting would. When you bring one of my Egyptian paintings home or for your office you'll find yourself drawn back to that seemingly magical time in human history when people accomplished things that even modern man cannot aspire to recreate. The paintings I've included are not all of my paintings but they're a good selection and when you want to see more of my work, you're welcome to visit any of my online galleries which you can find listed here. I'll also be adding new paintings as they're finished so be sure to bookmark this page. If you live in the Northeast Kansas area, I do have a few already framed & matted that you're welcome to purchase. To ask about those paintings you're welcome to email me here. Please click on the price & it'll take you to my gallery where you will get more information on that piece of artwork & the size of the piece.
