I painted this Celtic knot to pay homage to the four seasons. In each section of the Celtic cross I've painted a small scene depicting each of the 4 seasons with an infinity swirl in the center that I've also painted to match colors you think of with each season. Samhain is the original of Halloween & I've created this Celtic knot to honor this ancient festival! This painting started out with just the central panels and then it grew into what you see now which is a collection of beautiful Celtic animals- dogs and cats as well as colorful birds and I had to throw in another animal- man which you can see in the top panel of the painting and I went with something a bit whimsical in the bottom panel with a row of lovely mermaids. I chose these animals because they are featured often in ancient Celtic paintings and drawings due to their spiritual significance. The name of this painting truly fits because life is truly universal. In this piece I created a gorgeous oak tree sandwiched between two gold & silver Celtic crosses that show a blend of the new and old religions because trees were very sacred to the Celtic people; in fact, the word for oak- "daur" gives us the English word "door" because they believed trees to be a way to the afterlife. I decided to try and paint my first Celtic people for this piece to show that without trees, humans are nothing and of course birds and trees go hand in hand and these beautiful peacock style birds fill out the top corners very nicely indeed.

This is my first painting combining the elements of a regular painting in addition to a Celtic knot. The beautiful raven in the foreground is calling for his brethren who you can see in the distance as the sun is rising, bringing light to a majestic river below. The knots surrounding this painting are done in wonderful contrasting shades of burgundy, silver & black also contain individual raven feathers and it's all surrounded with a golden border. The darker knot colors are a great contrast to the soft oranges, yellows & blues that the sunrise is creating.

Christmas is a holiday with roots in many different pagan religious festivals. I wanted to paint a Celtic knot that blends many of the main elements together such as holly berries, wreaths, vines & of course reindeer which I have done with this painting. "Celtic Christmas" has a beautiful wreath in the center filled with Celtic spirals complete with holly berries & red knotted ribbons.
